Readers Conference

The Bruckner Journal is published three times a year, in March, July and November - since 1997 - and is available by subscription only.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Brucknerians to meet together in pleasant surroundings, hear papers from leading scholars in the field and from other Bruckner enthusiasts. As with the Journal itself, non-academic music lovers need not be intimidated and can be sure they will find a friendly welcome and much to enjoy, to think about and discuss.

In November 2022, the Journal published an article written by John A. Phillips discussing his latest version of the Bruckner Ninth Finale completion (2021-22), based on the previous work of the SPCM versions, which can be found here.

Sébastien Letocart - editor of his own performing version of the Ninth Finale - provided a criticism of the SPCM version, which was published in July 2023.

In response, Richard Lehnert - a retired editor of Sterophile Magazine - supplied a rhetorical critique of Mr. Letocart's article, published in November 2023.

Mr. Letocart's subsequent response is provided online on this page, along with the previous articles by the two authors.
